our-casuarina-tree-by-toru-dutt-art-print-full-poem-over-klimt-tree-of-life-painting-indian-poetry-poster
Our Casuarina Tree by Toru Dutt Art Print - Full Poem over Klimt Tree of Life Painting - Indian Poetry Poster

Toru Dutt's Our Casuarina Tree (1882), set in full over a sepia-toned detail of Gustav Klimt's The Tree of Life. Klimt's great spiralling branches coil across the whole sheet in warm bronze and umber, studded with his eye-like ovals and triangles, and the dark bird from the frieze perches on a bough at the lower right. The title stands at the top in heavy amber block capitals, with the poet's name and the year on a rule beneath, the five eleven-line stanzas run in two columns of cream serif type, and the work and painter are credited near the foot. Like a huge python, winding round and round the rugged trunk: Dutt remembers the tree of her Calcutta childhood, the baboon on its crest, the kokilas and the water-lilies, and consecrates it to the brother and sister who played beneath it. She died at twenty-one, and the poem appeared after her death. A rich, warm piece for a living room, study, hallway or bedroom, and a thoughtful gift for a lover of Indian literature or of trees.

• PLEASE NOTE: Our prints come UNFRAMED as default. We now offer some framing options but they are marked as "FRAMED" in the dimensions drop down box when selecting your size. The frames we sell are not the ones in the mockup images, which are for display purposes only.

• PAPER: All our prints come on the highest quality art papers and are produced with a full range of 12 pigment inks so they will maintain their vibrant colours for decades to come. A quick explanation of our different paper stocks will follow: Glossy finishes are like what you would get with a photograph. Very reflective and very bright colours. Lustre is a beautiful finish which is somewhere between a Matte and a Gloss. If you're not sure what to choose then Lustre looks fantastic on al prints in our store. If you'd like your item printed onto a stiff watercolour-style paper which has a textured rougher surface then choose our "textured" option. Finally we have a 100% cotton paper which is extra sturdy, displays colours beautifully and is probably the best option if you want a classic Matte (non-reflective) finish.

• SIZE: Our prints come in a variety of sizes so please check measurements and choose carefully from the drop down list above. If you need custom dimensions not listed please contact us as we may be able to do a custom size.

• REFUNDS: All our prints are 100% guaranteed. If you're not thrilled with your print when it arrives just contact us and we'll accept the return up to a YEAR after purchase! Check through our feedback to see why nobody ever wants to return their prints!

• DELIVERY TIMES: Please note we are based in the United Kingdom. If you are ordering from the USA then deliveries will usually arrive in 2 weeks or less but please be aware that this is NOT guaranteed and they can sometimes take up to 4 weeks to arrive due to the irregularities of international transit so before ordering please bare that in mind. If you're in Europe delivery usually takes 1-2 weeks but occasionally as long as 3 weeks. If you're based in the UK like us then typical delivery times are 2-3 days after ordering.

• PACKAGING: Prints 12x8" inches and smaller will be packaged in flat, board-backed envelopes.
